The Children of Lir (series)
“Out with you upon the wild waves, Children of the King!
Henceforth your cries shall be with the flocks of birds".

In the Celtic legend of the Children of Lir, King Lir's four children are transformed into swans for nine hundred years by his jealous second wife, Aoife. She deceives Lir, claiming the children drowned. Later, a monk transforms the swans back into humans, but they embrace and die of old age. This print series explores the mythic dissolution of boundaries between humans and animals, inspired by the tale's themes of shape-shifting and the connection between soul and matter.
